Provider Highlights and Information

Population Served:

Ages 11-13- depression, executive functioning issues, Anxiety, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder.

Ages 14-17- anxiety, depression, low self esteem, trauma, grief or loss, low self-esteem, anger, adoption issues, learning disabilities, school refusal or failure, social struggles, executive functioning issues.

Ages 18-28- Failure to launch, Dropping out of college or high school, Adoption/attachment issues, Isolating themselves from others, dysregulated mood, Mild to moderate substance use, Video game/ Internet addiction or overuse, Trauma, Oppositional behaviors, Depression, Anxiety, Executive Functioning Deficits

Gender- young adult group is co-Ed, adolescent and pre-teen groups are single gender, gender questioning clients are assigned in most appropriate group.

 

Therapeutic Modalities:

Family Therapy- weekly parent calls, phone/video family therapy, multi-day family workshop, weekly parent support group.

Individual & Group Theraoy- minimum of 2 1:1 and 4 group session led by licensed therapists.

Equine & Amimal Assisted Therapay- weekky interaction with horses including EAGALA model or therapeutic riding.

Adventure Therapy- every weekend consists of three days of a variety of activities including hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, bike riding, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, sand dunes, star gazing, etc.

Modality options include- EMDR, DBT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Neuro feedback, TRM, MBCT, and Brainspotting.

Psyochological testing is actively incorporated into treatment plans. Clients choose their theraoy.

Academic Information:

The blueFire Wilderness Therapy curriculum has been aligned to current Idaho Educational Standards and, in association with the Northridge Learning Center/Dorius Academy, we proudly offer experiential educational credits in Environmental Science, Character Education, Life Management, Psychology of Daily Living, Health Education, and Physical Education. We have accreditation through Cognia.

 

Our curriculum is also aligned to Western Colorado University standards, for clients to receive up to 3 college credits for Psychology 197: Intro to Wilderness Therapy. When clients sign up for the college credits then parents can be reimbursed for the cost of blueFire through their 529 college savings accounts.

 

All clients complete a Learning Styles Assessment.

 

Curriculum is incorporated into the daily schedule of activities.

 

We use nature as a hands on learning environment.
